Fall protection for building maintenance workers
Building maintenance usually involves working in tight spaces or having to climb into awkward areas to access items like ducts, electrical fixtures, elevator controls or chimneys. Equally dangerous are tasks like window washing where you are suspended high above the ground. Pest and animal control workers are often faced with precarious work environments: balancing and handling many pieces of equipment; or having to contend with animals and insects on a roof or overhang. At times like these fall protection equipment is essential. The equipment should conform to the
new ANSI Z 359.1-07ED standard, additionally high strength connectors should be easy to hook and unhook.
PenSafe manufactures a wide range of high strength connectors that are ideal for use in demanding situations. For instance the new PenSafe Pincer has been engineered from the ground-up to remain secure and can be hooked and unhooked easily using one hand. When the Pincer is opened its design means that fingers do not obstruct the opening.
Aside from the Pincer PenSafe has several other high strength connectors that have large hooks
suitable for hooking onto piping and for hooking onto equipment. PenSafe strongly recommends
that all components used in the field comply with the new ANSI Z 359.1-07ED standard
that mandates hooks have a side load and face load strength of 3,600lbs, so they remain functional even when the hook is
twisted and the gate is loaded.
If you are not sure whether the components you currently use are compliant, it is best to replace them.
PenSafe provides a wide range of hardware for industry including a full range of ANSI Z 359.1-07ED compliant high strength connectors, snap hooks, form hooks, buckles, adjusters, D rings, anchorage connectors and carabiners.
