The requirements for equipment used in search and rescue are particularly demanding. Not only does the equipment have to be strong it also needs to have characteristics like resistance to abrasion, low weight, and enable rapid entry and exit in environments where there is low visibility, restricted space and high temperatures. The new PenSafe PincerTM complies with the proposed new ANSI Z 359.1-07ED standard, which means that it is tested for gate side and gate face load strengths of 3,600 lbs. The connector is designed so it can be hooked and unhooked easily using one hand. Unlike traditional hooks gloved fingers are well clear of the gate, saving seconds in critical situations.
